LABIAL AUGMENTATION
This 36-year-old Brazilian patient wanted enlargement of labia majora. After clinical evaluation in our Fort Lauderdale plastic surgery center we discussed two options. One was augmentation of the labia with patient’s own tissue in the form of fat grafts; the other option was augmentation of labia with soft tissue filler.
Fat grafting is a complex procedure which involves harvest of fat grafts from flanks, abdomen or thighs, followed with purification of fat tissue from blood, oils and local anesthetic solution. Purified fat grafts are then injected in the labia using fine 1 mm. cannula. All is done under local anesthesia.
Using soft tissue filler for the same purpose involves only one step since fillers come ready made for application most of them already premixed with local anesthetic.
In this case 20 ml. of soft tissue filler Sculptra were injected in both sides. Satisfactory volume correction with this filler usually last for over 2 years.
Images before labial enlargement with soft tissue filler are on the left; images on the right are 3 months after filler injection for labial augmentation.
