BOTOX® COSMETIC

Dr. Potparic’s patients in Boca, Fort Lauderdale and Miami can”age later” after getting a BOTOX® treatment.  BOTOX® is used to cosmetically remove and prevent wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing facial muscles. It works by blocking the nerves that contract muscles, softening the appearance of wrinkles.

BOTOX® is a popular choice in combating wrinkles and facial lines, as are the similar agents Dysport® and Xeomin®. These injectables have proven to be go-to products when it comes to reducing the appearance of wrinkles because they require no surgery or down time. The injection process takes about 10 minutes, but the smoothing effects from BOTOX® injections can last up to six months.

HOW DOES BOTOX® WORK?

BOTOX® consists of a purified protein, Botulinum toxin, which blocks the chemicals that cause muscles to contract, thereby relaxing the targeted muscles. This temporary paralysis of selected muscles, which lasts three to six months, improves the appearance of moderate to severe skin lines caused by overactive facial muscles.

The lines that appear between eyebrows actually result from muscle movements and the passage of time. This can be a lifetime of concentrating, squinting, and frowning. When muscles contract, they draw brows together and down. As skin becomes less elastic over time, repeated frowning can result in moderate to severe lines forming between the brows.

Similar effects can be seen around the eyes, where repeated squinting creates deep lines known as crow’s feet. Fine lipstick lines have a similar origin.

BOTOX® is most frequently used for treatment of forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, frown lines, lower-eyelid issues, lipstick wrinkles, and even neck bands in adults younger than age 65. In the hands of an experienced injector, such as at Dr. Zoran Potparic’s practice, Botulinum toxin A can also be used for correction of brow asymmetry and other facial asymmetries caused by a facial muscle imbalance.

The cosmetic is considered a prescription medicine and must be administered by a health-care professional. Any discomfort associated with the injection is typically brief.

MORE ABOUT BOTOX®

A common concern patients voice about BOTOX® is the worry that they’ll no longer be able to make facial expressions, since their muscles will be paralyzed, even if only temporarily. Remember, though, that this treatment reduces specific muscle activity where it’s injected. The wrinkles between your brows, which can make an “11” due to the way the skin folds there, aren’t necessarily involved in a frown. Our BOTOX® patients are able to convey emotions and expressions through their face.

Know also that BOTOX® is not strictly for women. Men who want to reduce the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles between their brows, crow’s feet, or other facial lines may use it to get a smoother look.

WE ARE PERFECTIONISTS

To ensure you receive the best results at the best price, our BOTOX treatments are priced by the area, not the unit. Therefore, you get just the amount of BOTOX you need, so you look naturally refreshed without being overtreated or overcharged. We also encourage you to return about 5 to 7 days after your treatment, so we can check your results and perform any touch-up injections if necessary, free of charge

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOTOX® AND FILLERS

Facial fillers are another option for treating wrinkles and frown lines, but this choice differs from BOTOX® in significant ways.

Fillers mask wrinkles by adding volume underneath and around the “deformity” targeted for treatment, while BOTOX® temporarily paralyzes the overactive muscles causing the wrinkles. Their way of action is, as you can see, completely different.

BOTOX® and tissue fillers are frequently used together, however, to improve results in treating wrinkles. When used in concert, the two cosmetic procedures can combine to smooth out a patient’s face while restoring volume to areas that may have sunken. The overall effect is one of youthful roundness.
