ETHNIC CORRECTIVE NOSE SURGERY

This police officer sustained nose fracture during fitness training. She presented with a mild nose deformity as a result of external nose fracture and difficulties with breathing due to nasal septum fracture and deviation. After initial nasal swelling subsided (2 weeks) we decided to address deviated nasal septum and correct her breathing; there was no need to correct nose fracture. Few days before reconstructive nose surgery patient expressed desire to have aesthetic nose tip correction done in the same time. She was pleased with overall appearance of her nose but wanted refinement of a broad and bulky nose tip.

Surgery was performed in general anesthesia in our accredited plastic surgery center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Patient underwent aesthetic correction of the nasal tip and functional reconstruction of the deviated nasal septum. Cartilage removed from the septum was used to correct and support nose tip. Patient was discharged home 1 hour after surgery. She resumed office duties 2 weeks after nose surgery.

Images on the left demonstrate patient condition before nose tip and septum surgery. On the right patient is shown 1.5 year after functional and aesthetic surgery of the nose. Notice subtle improvement of the nose tip on front and worms views and gentle nose tip rotation on the profile view. This subtle change was sufficient to correct less attractive tip features but still preserve overall appearance of the ethnic nose.
