BODY CONTOURING

This 42 year old patient requested moderate body contouring of abdomen and flanks. He had a full body and he did not want to look “too muscular”. After clinical evaluation was completed we discussed body contouring with liposuction. We decided to treat abdomen and lower back (love handles) only.

In general anesthesia we performed moderate liposuction (suction lipectomy) of abdomen and flanks. Patient was placed in a compressive garment as soon as surgery was completed. He was discharged home 1 hour after liposuction surgery.

Patient is shown before body contouring surgery on the left and 8 weeks after liposuction of abdomen and lower back on the right. Notice irregularities and lumpiness visible on his abdomen. This is relatively common finding up to 4-6 months after liposuction surgery. These lumps will soften and disappear after 6 months in most of the patients.
