FACIAL FAT GRAFTS
A 48-year-old Palm Beach cosmetic surgery patient came to our Fort Lauderdale plastic surgery center for consultation about facial rejuvenation. After detailed clinical evaluation was completed we discussed face and neck rejuvenation by means of face and neck lift and fat grafts to cheeks, around the eyes and brows.
First stage of her surgery consisted of fat grafting around the eyes, brows and temples to restore volume. An integral part of facial aging is loss of fat tissue in the face which results in emaciated and tired looking face. Restoration of volume to the face is an integral part of facial rejuvenation. This can be done either using patient’s own tissue in the form of fat grafts or artificial soft tissue fillers. The advantage of fat grafts is that they last longer, in average 2-3 years.
Patient image on the left is before fat grafting to multiple areas of the cheeks, around eyes and brows. Image on the right is 6 months after periorbital augmentation with fat grafts. Notice improvements in the temples and lower eyelids-cheek areas. Placement of fat grafts between brow and upper eyelid creates a youthful fullness and impression of brow lift.
