FACIAL FAT GRAFTS CASE #195

A 49-year-old plastic surgery patient came to our Fort Lauderdale plastic surgery center from Boca Raton for a consultation about facial rejuvenation. She said that she was not ready for major surgery by means of face/neck lift but she was open for less invasive option that will create improvement in her face and neck. She was concerned about appearance of her neck and jowls.

After clinical evaluation was completed we discussed several options of facial rejuvenation. Since she made it clear that she was not interested in face and neck lift, which would be the most appropriate procedure for this patient based on her presentation, we discussed limited liposuction contouring of the neck and jowls and fat grafting of the midface, nasolabial folds, chin and around the mouth.

Her surgery was performed in our office based plastic surgery center in twilight anesthesia (IV sedation) supervised by an anesthesiologist. Liposuction of the neck and jowls was done first. Fat tissue which was aspirated (suctioned) by means of liposuction was then purified and prepared for injection into midface, nasolabial folds and around the eyes and mouth.

Images on the left show patient before fat liposuction from neck and jowls and fat grafting of multiple areas of the face. Images on the right show postoperative result 6 months after facial rejuvenation with a combination of fat liposuction and fat grafting. Images in the middle demonstrate areas where fat was removed (neck, jowls) and fat grafts placed (midface, around mouth, eyes and chin.
