NECK LIPECTOMY – CHIN IMPLANT
A 19-year-old Fort Lauderdale plastic surgery patient came to our cosmetic surgery center in Ft. Lauderdale for consult regarding neck contouring. She claimed that “everybody in my family has a full neck and small chin”. She wanted to know whether something can be done to improve her neck appearance before she goes off to college.
On clinical examination she presented with full neck, small chin and no definition of the jawline (visible jawline “separates” face from neck) (left). This is frequently “a family trait” due to several factors; accumulation of fat in the neck, small chins and neck muscles inserting too low in the neck.
Her surgery was done in general anesthesia in our office cosmetic surgery center. It included aggressive contouring of the neck by means of liposuction (neck lipectomy) and placement of chin implant. Recovery after this surgery takes 5-7 days.
Before neck contouring surgery (left) and 1.5 years after neck liposuction and a chin enlargement with implant (right).
