  • Poland Syndrome

A 23 years old professional soccer player came to us to have right sided Poland syndrome corrected. In his case that was a milder form of deformity with congenital absence of lower (sternal) portion of pectoral muscle. Correction involved transfer of well vascularized and innervated muscle from the back (latissimus dorsi muscle) which has similar appearance and function as pectoral major muscle. Recovery was uneventful; he started exercise and build up of muscle 3 months after transfer. Before and 1.5 years after result is shown.
