- Body Contouring
This plastic surgery patient from Miami came to our office for a consult about body contouring surgery. She had tummy tuck done 5 years ago but she gained 30 lbs. after surgery. She recently lost 15 lbs. She wanted to see whether any other procedure, less invasive then a new tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) could improve her body image. She planned to loose additional 20 lbs. before she commits herself to a new tummy tuck and breast lift surgery.
After detailed evaluation in our plastic surgery center in Fort Lauderdale we suggested an aggressive liposuction of abdomen, flanks, and lower back and upper arms. This will not resolve all the problems but will improve current shape and possibly stimulate her to loose additional weight before she commits to a more extensive body contouring surgeries.
Surgery was performed in our office based surgery suite in general anesthesia. Using powered mechanical liposuction technique we removed around 9 liters of fat aspirate (approximate 5 liters of pure fat) from abdomen, lower back and arms. Patient was discharged home 1 hour after surgery. She was placed in a custom made compressive body garment for 3-4 weeks.
Images on the left demonstrate patient condition before body contouring surgery. On the right patient is shown 6 months after liposuction of abdomen, flanks, and lower back and upper arms. Notice a significant change between pre and postoperative condition. However, patient will need further surgeries including liposuction to achieve desired look. A reasonable weight loss would further improve current result and set a stage for a more refined body contouring of abdomen and breasts.
