Patients at our Fort Lauderdale plastic surgery center often ask our opinion about the best time to get breast implants for summer. That is, when should they undergo breast implant surgery so that their breasts will be ready for the sun, sand, and surf of summer.
Though everyone heals at a much different pace, we do have the following recommendations. Above all, remember that recovery should be your priority after you get breast implants. Even with summer approaching, never rush your own healing process and overall health.
Minimum Time Needed to Recover
The practice of augmentation, including implants and breast lift surgery, has really come a long way. Even in the past few decades, procedures, tools and processes have made major improvements in the field.
The minimum recovery time for breast implant surgery is 1 to 2 weeks.
Immediately after surgery, your breast will be swollen from the work done and from the increase size and volume of your breasts. Your chest area will feel tight and you may have tenderness around incision areas.
During this time, it’s important to get as much rest as possible and to limit your overall activity. No sun, sand, or surf at all. The only surfing you should be doing is channel surfing. Curl up and give your body an opportunity to heal.
Average Time for Expect Results
It does take some time to heal and some time to get used to your new physique. Your body is healing quite rapidly, and you can begin to feel mostly normal.
The average time to recover from surgery enough to begin normal activity is 3 to 4 weeks.
After this period, you can begin lifting objects and going about your day as you would have before the surgery. Of course, you still want to maintain a normal level of stress and not over exert yourself. Though you aren’t ready for the beach, you are ready to return to your daily routines and life before you got your breast implants.
Best Time – All Healed & Ready for Sun!
So, the absolute best time to get breast implants for summer would actually be spring time! Mid-March to Mid-April is ideal because you will be healed and ready to show off your new look in time for those trips to the pool or ocean.
It can take between 6 to 8 weeks to be ready to hit the beach!
You will need time to heal, to get used to your new physical prowess, and to go shopping for a new swimsuit. That’s why you should consider breast implants before summer, at least 2 or 3 months beforehand, ideally in springtime.
