• Tummy Tuck – Abdominoplasty

A 58-year-old retired professional woman from West Palm Beach presented in our cosmetic surgery office in Fort Lauderdale requesting a tummy tuck. She was waiting for this surgery for several years and wanted to “give herself a treat”.

During the preoperative consult in our cosmetic surgery practice, we discussed extensive abdominoplasty. This is a procedure that includes removal of redundant skin and fat, like a traditional tummy tuck, but also involves tucking (plication) of loose abdominal muscles and aggressive liposuction to contour abdomen, hips and lower back. The patient was in excellent health and was considered an excellent candidate for the proposed surgery.

Her surgery was performed in hospital under general anesthesia. It included removal and tightening of abdomen and hips, tucking of the loose abdominal muscles and aggressive liposuction and body contouring of abdomen, flanks and back.

Patient is shown before tummy tuck and liposuction surgery (left) and 1.5 years after extensive abdominoplasty, tightening of abdominal muscles and aggressive body contouring by means of liposuction of abdomen and back (right).

A 3/4 view of the patient before tummy tuck surgery (left) and after tummy tuck with aggressive liposuction of flanks and back (right). A fine well-hidden scar and tight abdomen is all that is left from preoperative deformity.

A same patient ¾ view before tummy tuck (left) and after extensive abdominoplasty with liposuction (right). Notice improvement in abdomen, hips and thighs.

A back view of the patient before body contouring surgery (left) and 1.5 years after tummy tuck and liposculpting of the back and flanks (right). Notice significant improvement in the body contour and loss of big roles on the upper and lower portion of her back. Patient additionally lost over 20 lbs. She states that her result after surgery was the major stimulus for consecutive weight loss.
