OTOPLASTY – EAR SHAPING
A 51-year-old cosmetic patient from out of the country wanted correction of her ears. “Although everybody tells me that I have perfectly normal ears, I would still like to have them closer to my head due to my hairstyle “was her statement.
Preoperative evaluation in our Ft. Lauderdale plastic and cosmetic surgery office demonstrated that the patient’s ears are within normal standards regarding position, size and shape (left upper image). However, based on her request we decided to proceed with corrective ear surgery to bring her ears close to her head.
Surgery was performed in local anesthesia in our office surgery center in Fort Lauderdale. Compressive bulky dressing is used for one day only. The next day, all dressing was removed and patient was advised to use a soft headband to cover ears when in bed for 7-10 days.
Before ear surgery (left upper and left lower) and 1 year after corrective ear surgery (otoplasty) (right upper and lower). Notice minimal but visible difference in before and after images; ears are definitely closer to the head what was the goal of this surgery.
