NIPPLE/AREOLA SURGERY CASE 345

A 27-year-old cosmetic patient from Miami came to our plastic surgery center in Ft. Lauderdale for consultation regarding her inverted (retracted) nipples. After clinical evaluation was completed we discussed surgical options for inverted nipple correction. In her case, considering severity of retraction milk ducts which connect breast gland with nipple needed to be severed in order to expand the nipple. She would not be able to breast feed in the future.

Patient consented for proposed surgery and we performed correction of inverted nipples in local anesthesia in our Ft. Lauderdale plastic surgery center. Local tissue taken from the surrounding areola in the form of flaps was used to fill the nipple dome once it was severed from milk ducts. This created large and permanently erected nipples.

Patient is shown before inverted nipple surgery and 4 months after correction of retracted nipples with local flaps.
