Breast augmentation with silicone implants is an excellent procedure to increase breast size and improve breast shape. However, this procedure will not provide breast lift effect in those patient that need it. This 42-year-old patient who came to our Fort Lauderdale breast clinic for breast augmentation is a good example.

Clinical evaluation reveled symmetric breasts with flat (deflated) upper breast area and down-turned nipples which were in the level with breast crease (inframammary) fold. We suggested breast augmentation with moderate profile round silicone gel implants and possibly nipple and areola lift if needed. Decision about areola lift would be made after implants are placed and breast augmentation completed. Patient, however, refused to have scar around areola which will be needed to provide a small breast lift. For that reason we agreed to proceed with breast enlargement with implants only.

Her surgery was done on out patient basis in our plastic surgery center in Fort Lauderdale. A round, smooth,  moderate profile, 325 ml. silicone gel implants were placed underneath the muscle using small incision placed in the breast crease. Patient was discharged home after surgery. She was pain free through the entire postoperative course.
