BREAST RECONSTRUCTION WITH BUTTOCK-THIGH FLAP 257

This 53-yers old patient from Virginia had left breast mastectomy 3 years before she came for a consultation regarding breast reconstruction. She insisted on breast reconstruction with her own tissue.

Considering that she had history of abdominal surgery 1 year ago we decided to take tissue from her left buttock and thigh. Significant amount of skin and fat tissue with a small portion of buttock muscle was used for breast reconstruction in the form of free microvascular flap transfer.

Patient is shown before left breast reconstruction on the left. On the right she is shown 1.5 years after left breast and nipple/areola reconstruction entirely with her own tissue.  A symmetric amount of skin was removed from the right thigh in order to achieve more symmetry with left thigh where the flap was taken from.
