FACE LIFT AND NECK LIFT WITH FAT GRAFTING 172

This 67-year-old woman, a recently retired cosmetic patient from West Palm Beach came to our office in Ft. Lauderdale requesting consultation for a face and neck lift. She was healthy, recently widowed and she wanted to look fresher and younger. She was a heavy smoker for a number of years but she quit smoking 10 years ago.

A thorough clinical evaluation of her face and skin revealed heavy neck with a turkey gobbler deformity, atrophy (loss of volume, fat mostly) of the face and around the eyes. Moderate aging signs on both upper and lower eyelids. Her skin was significant for deep wrinkles and loss of elasticity due to many years of smoking.

After the evaluation was completed we discussed facial rejuvenation, a set of multiple surgical and non-surgical procedures that will create desired improvements. We suggested face and neck lift, upper and lower blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelid surgery) and fat grafting as a first stage of facial rejuvenation.

Her surgery was performed in our office based plastic surgery center using general anesthesia. It involved fat grafting of the chin, cheeks, and deep facial folds and around the eyes. Fat grafts were injected into these areas with a small 1mm bore cannulas. This was followed by upper and lower eyelid surgery, where sagging skin and protruding fat were removed from eyelids. Finally, the lifting and contouring of the neck and face was performed by means of a full face/neck lift.
