BREAST LIFT WITH AUGMENTATION 189
This Miami plastic surgery patient presented for a consult regarding breast lift surgery. After clinical evaluation of her breasts was completed we discussed breast lift surgery with or without augmentation with implants. She decided to have breast lift with implants but she wanted her scar to be limited to areolas; she did not want vertical (lollipop) scar. We made it clear that this type of breast lift so called “doughnut mastopexy” has limited lift capacity and that she will end up with a mature looking full breasts rather than perky, higher positioned breasts.
Surgery was done in our AAAA certified plastic surgery center. A 300 ml round smooth silicone gel implants were placed underneath the muscles. This was followed with a circumferential breast lift which included removal of the small amount of skin and reshaping of breast tissue on top of the implant. Patient was discharged home 1 hour after surgery.
Left image shows patient breasts before breast lift and augmentation surgery. Notice preoperative markings which demonstrate amount of skin to be removed around areolas as well as projected new position of the areola/nipple. Image on the right shows patient 6 months after breast lift/augmentation surgery. Notice a white flower-like discoloration around areolas. Patient was sunbathing with silicone sheets placed over areolar scars. We routinely recommend silicone sheets and/or silicone based gel-films for scar management 6-12 months after surgery.
