Some people find that no matter how well they eat or how hard they exercise, they are still plagued by an abdomen that sticks out or by loose, sagging skin. Many factors including pregnancy, substantial changes in weight, and even genetics can contribute to this abdominal bulge. No matter the cause, a tummy tuck in Fort Lauderdale with Dr. Zoran Potparic can give South Florida patients the look they want by eliminating stubborn fat deposits, removing loose skin, and restoring weakened or separated muscles.
A tummy tuck, technically called abdominoplasty, can address a bulging belly with surgery, creating the look of a firmer, flatter abdomen that's more proportional with the rest of the body.

This procedure can be performed alone, but is often performed with liposuction to further improve body contours. It can also be combined with other treatments, such as labiaplasty to rejuvenate multiple areas at once. Individuals considering tummy tuck surgery should be healthy, relatively fit, and motivated to maintain good weight control after surgery.
A tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an exercise program. Although the results are technically permanent, the positive outcome can be greatly diminished by new significant fluctuations in weight, so anyone planning to shed a substantial number of pounds or women who may be considering future pregnancies may be advised to postpone this procedure.
Also, know that a tummy tuck cannot correct stretch marks. Such marks, however, may be partially removed or improved if they are located on excess skin that is removed during the procedure.
For a full tummy tuck, Dr. Potparic will make a horizontal incision in the lower abdomen between the pubic hairline and navel. The length and shape of the incision will be determined by the scope of the surgery and the patient's preferred style of underwear, whether bikini or French cut. The doctor will repair and suture weakened abdominal muscles and remove fat tissue and excess skin through this incision.
A second incision around the navel will create a new position for the belly button.
The doctor will use lipoplasty or suction lipectomy to vacuum excess fat in the flanks, lower back, and hips, and will further thin abdominal skin to get it to a uniform thickness in all of the treated areas.
Patients who have excess fatty deposits and loose, stretched skin below the navel may opt for a mini abdominoplasty, also known as a partial or mini tummy tuck.
This surgery typically involves shorter incisions and doesn't include repositioning the belly button.

The doctor will make an incision above the pubic area and lift the abdominal skin to expose and suture together the underlying muscles to create a flatter, firmer abdominal wall. He will then stretch the skin back beyond the original incision and remove excess skin.
