RHINOPLASTY – NOSE SURGERY

A 28 year-old plastic surgery patient from Miami presented in our office requesting consult for nose surgery. She wanted correction of her bulky, large and wide nose and, in particular, correction of heavy, droopy tip of the nose.

Clinical evaluation in our Fort Lauderdale cosmetic surgery center demonstrated longer, wide nose with broad tip and small hump (left). She had no difficulties breathing; there were no evidence of nose obstruction by means of deviated septum or enlarged turbinate’s. We discussed nose shaping surgery by means of open rhinoplasty and cartilage grafts for the tip shaping and support.

Her surgery was performed in our office based AAAA certified office surgery center in general anesthesia.  It consisted of external rhinoplasty which included removal of the nose hump and cutting of nasal bones to correct width of the nose. Reconstruction of nose tip involved reshaping and trimming tip cartilages with addition of cartilage graft taken from her septum to support and elevate the nose tip. She had splint for 7 days and mild swelling and bruising around eyes for 10 days.

Before nose shaping surgery (left) and 1 year after open rhinoplasty (nose job) on the right. Noticeable changes in her profile by means of lowering and shortening of the nose and elevation of the droopy tip are seen on postoperative image. On a front view one can appreciate the change of the width of the nose and shape of the nose tip (right).
