EYELID PTOSIS REPAIR CASE #360

This 10-years-old patient from Miami area was born with severe ptosis of the left upper eyelid. She is able to see to her left eye only if the bands her neck back. the loss of development of the muscles that lift upper eyelid is the cause of  congenital eyelid ptosis.This condition should have been corrected much earlier in her life.

We performed her surgery in twilight anesthesia and placed a tendon graft taken from her thigh. Tendon is fixed to the upper eyelid, passed underneath the skin  and sutured i to the forehead muscle. This way, when patient lifts her left brow she opens and lifts the eyelid as needed.

Patient is shown before congenital eyelid ptosis repair and 3 weeks after ptosis repair with tendon graft.
