- Tummy Tuck – Abdominoplasty
A 38-year-old female patient who requested body contouring surgery. After much discussion, we decided to proceed with a panniculectomy type of abdominoplasty. This patient is 5 weeks post-op in her before and after – patient case photos.
The patient had an increased risk of skin problems because of cigarette smoking. Even though she quit a week before surgery, this habit significantly increases the risk of healing, wound dehiscence, fat necrosis, infection, etc. These risks are about three times more likely to happen when undergoing surgery compared to a non-smoker. In result, we decided to do a more conservative type of abdominoplasty with minimal undermining and limited liposuction due to the restrictions to 1 liter of aspiration.
