Over the past 30 years, vulvo-vaginal rejuvenation and vaginal labiaplasty have become increasingly popular procedures in plastic and gynecologic surgery, both here in Fort Lauderdale, FL and around the U.S. This trend is mostly attributed to increased exposure to female nudity in the media, but it also has helped many women rejuvenate their confidence and sense of femininity.
Patients interested in learning more about labiaplasty or vulvo-vaginal rejuvenation in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Palm Beach can bring their questions to Dr. Potparic. For a free consultation, please call (954) 779-2777 or contact us online.
There are several reasons women pursue these procedures, including:
The appearance of the labia minora, or the inner folds of skin around the vagina, can also cause patients significant psychological distress. Enlarged labia minora are usually the result of development (congenital deformity), but there are a number of conditions that can cause enlargement (labial hypertrophy), including use of testosterone (a male hormone), sensitivity to topically applied female hormones, chronic irritation, and stretching.
There are no established aesthetic or anatomical standards regarding the appearance of the labia minora and labia majora, but most women like their labia minora to be hidden by the labia majora, or outer lips. In other words, labia minora should not protrude beyond the labia majora. To achieve this balance, Dr. Potparic may recommend correction of both the labia majora (enlargement) and labia minora (reduction).
Dr. Zoran PotparicDr. Zoran Potparic is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has helped many plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery patients correct deformities and achieve desired results in the Fort Lauderdale and Miami area.
Dr. Potparic uses multiple labiaplasty techniques to correct large labia minora. Their common goal is to achieve reduction of hypertophic labia minora while preserving good sensation and a natural contour, color, texture, and size of the introitus, or entrance to the vagina. Enlargement of the labia majora to achieve youthful "clamshell" appearance can be achieved using soft tissue fillers or fat grafting.
Surgery is done using local anesthesia with mild oral sedation. The postoperative regimen involves local wound care and dressing change for 4 to 7 days and avoidance of intercourse for 4 to 6 weeks.
Dr. Potparic offers free consultations and welcomes patients interested in quality results to ask any and all questions they might have. He approached each patient with candid compassion. For more information, or to set up your free consultation, call (954) 779-2777 or contact us online.
